  • Everyone in the hospital environment will be masked
  • Patients will wear level 1 masks when outside of their treatment rooms or when face to face with HCPs during care
  • Visitors will wear personal masks or be provided with a level 1 if needed
  • Non-clinical staff will wear level 1 masks at all times
  • Clinical staff will wear the appropriate level of mask for the clinical situation
  • Staff - universal eye protection for ED, ICU, and other high risk areas
  • Staff - eye protection when face to face care and patient cannot mask
  • Staff - fit tested N95 with full face shield for ALL AGP

Increasing Meditech Time Outs: East Flordia Division

The East Florida Division is increasing Meditech timeouts.  The current setting is 6 minutes for screen, menu, and suspend session. 

The new Time Ous are as follows:

  • Screen Time Out-15 minutes
  • Menu Time Out-30 minutes
  • Suspend Session-30 minutes

Safety Matters: Temporary Change-Central Line Kits

There will be 2 modifications to the HCA Central Line Kit:

1.  Omit 1 (of 2) Facemasks.

2.  Substitute vinyl gloves in place of Nitrile gloves for Step 1-Removal.

Recommendations:

  • The Facemask provided in the Central Line Kit should be utilized for the provider.  Please obtain a second facemask for the patient from regular stock.
  • No practice change is indicated for substitution of vinyl gloved in place of nitrile gloves.

Updated: COVID-19 First Point of Contact Meditech Screens

One of the main complications being seen with COVID-19 is ARDS; plateau pressure is a key indicator of assessing lung injury. Plateau pressure has been added to RT ventilator flowsheet to assist with trending and care of patients.

Continental Division: Nursing Meditech Menu Update

The Continental Division has recently updated the Nursing Meditech Menu.  The Menu will be standardized across the Division: same menu, same numbers, same status board, etc. for all facilities in Continental Division.

EBCD: Suicide Prevention Updates

The Meditech screens for suicide prevention have changed to the Columbia Rating Scale. All patients are assessed on admission for signs or symptoms that would indicate that the patient might be at risk for suicide. The patient's history, psychosocial assessment, and suicide risk screen contribute to the initial assessment.

Please review the provided suicide algorithm document to ensure compliance for Suicide prevention assessment and documentation.
