As we head into the holiday weekend, HealthTrust Workforce Solutions would like to wish you all the best for a great holiday and a Happy 4th of July! This 4th of July, we would like to honor those who have dedicated and sacrificed their lives for the freedom that our nation enjoys today. We are thankful for the commitment that has been and continues to be made for our nation as we strive for a better tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Juneteenth and has now officially been designated a federal holiday, the date marketing the end of slavery in the United States. The Emancipation Proclamation officially went into effect on January 1, 1863. But, it wasn’t until June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce the end of the Civil War that those enslaved in Texas learned of their freedom.

Juneteenth, observed annually by generations of Black families, is a day to reflect, rejoice, and educate. Whether you plan to celebrate with friends or participate in a virtual event, we encourage you to observe this milestone in American history. This day is an opportunity to have Brave Conversations about the current struggle for racial equality and justice in our country.

Acknowledging and celebrating Juneteenth is just one step in our journey toward a healthier, more equitable tomorrow.

Each Memorial Day we pay tribute to the veterans who have given their life as an ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our American values and the security of our nation. We are thankful for those who have given their lives to protect our hard-fought freedom. We stand in continued partnership with the United Way’s MISSION UNITED initiative and with our military families in remembrance of the fallen as we share our gratitude for their significant sacrifice. Their impact will never be forgotten.

Due to the increase use of vaccinations, we are grateful that more people can gather with family and friends to honor Memorial Day.

As the year comes to an end, HealthTrust Workforce Solutions would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued dedication to patient care. Throughout the uncertainty that 2020 has brought us, one thing is certain - our appreciation for our valued clinicians, clients and team members. While this year has presented us with unprecedented challenges and has tested each of us personally, we know we are stronger together because of it.

While the holidays are typically a time of gift giving, we put a lot of thought into what the best token of our appreciation would be this year. Ultimately, we determined that the most impactful gift we can give is to help others in our communities during these tough times. In the spirit of the season, we have elected to make a donation to the United Way on behalf of our valued clinicians, clients and team members. Together we can do more good.

Throughout the holiday season our wish to you is for you to enjoy this special time of year with your loved ones - your family, your friends and anyone else you hold dear.

Today is Veterans Day, which offers us a special opportunity to express our gratitude to those who served in the United States military, especially the many among us now working within the HealthTrust Workforce Solutions family. Thank you to all of the courageous individuals put their lives in harm's way to protect our country and ensure the freedoms that Americans embrace each and every day.  I would also like to thank families of veterans, because, just like our veterans, their families are just as courageous, making countless sacrifices to protect our great country and all of the rights we enjoy everyday.

As the coronavirus continues to impact our communities and we all deal with a lot of uncertainty, we remain concerned about the veterans and their families who struggle every day to make ends meet. HWS is proud to partner with the United Way of Broward County’s MISSION UNITED, which provides veteran employment services, legal assistance, education, financial services, health and housing support. This year our celebrations for the holiday won’t look like they have in prior years as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing measures.  While large-scale, Memorial Day events won’t be taking place this year, there are still plenty of opportunities to recognize the holiday, from small backyard BBQs to driveway fireworks.

PBS will be hosting a special presentation of the star-studded National Memorial Day Concert with new performances and tributes filmed in different locations around the country and iconic stories from past concerts. America’s night of remembrance will honor our troops, veterans, wounded warriors, all those who have given their lives for our nation, and their families.

StoryCorps offers a variety of stories from service members, veterans and their families through its Military Voices Initiative. This is an opportunity to honor their voices, amplify their experiences, and let them know that we—as a nation—are listening.
