One of our IV solutions suppliers in North Carolina was severely impacted by the recent hurricane. Hurricane recovery efforts in that part of the country are expected to continue for the coming months. HCA is diligently working with corporate and division pharmacy and supply chain teams to preserve our on-hand supplies.
As a result, HCA Healthcare facilities are facing a shortage of IV solutions in bags of 250 mL or greater.
Please review the below items and be familiar with your role during this shortage.

The I-PASS form is utilized to send reports to the Medical and Tele units prior to the ER moving the patient to the unit. The process includes completing the form and faxing it to the receiving unit when the bed is assigned "dirty". This allows the unit nurse a chance to review information and call with questions prior to the patient being taken to their inpatient bed. See the below sample.
