Coping With the Stress of COVID-19 From the Perspective of a Nurse

Posted by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions on May 14, 2021 4:22:55 PM

Melissa Loftin_Image 2We are thankful for the countless nurses that have provided exceptional patient care to patients across the country throughout COVID-19. Although the pandemic created hardships for both patients and nurses, we are grateful for the dedication that nurses have exhibited towards enhancing patient care. Below, we share one nurses' experience of coping with the stress of COVID-19, the lessons that she learned and the support that she felt along the way.

Melissa L., ICU R.N., is thankful for the support of HealthTrust Workforce Solutions and HCA Healthcare throughout COVID-19. Although Melissa was afraid at the start of the pandemic, Melissa was comforted as HealthTrust and HCA Healthcare provided exceptional resources and proper PPE. Melissa’s compassion for her patients grew throughout her time treating COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. She truly learned the importance of spending quality time with her patients and making every encounter meaningful, which led to a deeper appreciation for her role as a nurse.

Aside from the positive support from HealthTrust Workforce Solutions and HCA Healthcare, Melissa is thankful for how every nurse leaned on one another and provided support to each other during COVID-19. Melissa’s advice to new nurses is to put all of their fears aside and to know that they are going to make a difference in the lives of many patients, who will ultimately make a difference in their life as well.

Happy Nurses Week!

Nurses are at the heart of healthcare and that has never been more apparent than throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. During Nurses Week 2021, we have a special opportunity to recognize these special healthcare heroes.

Nurses Week is celebrated annually, May 6-12. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife to honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth and to advance nurses’ vital role in transforming health care around the world. HealthTrust Workforce Solutions stands in support of extending this recognition into 2021 to continue to shine a light on the valuable impact nurses have made throughout the pandemic and beyond.

The pandemic has challenged us all in many ways, yet nurses have continued to deliver steadfast patient care without skipping a beat. We are inspired by the new and innovative ways in which nurses have found to take care of their patients, their families and one another. Your compassion, commitment, determination and resilience have given us all a reason to hope for a better tomorrow.

On behalf of the team at HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, thank you for being a beacon of light to those who need you most. We appreciate you and remain committed to doing our part to help you be able to continue to make a life-saving difference for those in our communities.

Have a wonderful Nurses Week!

Posted by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions on Apr 22, 2021 11:03:32 AM

HealthTrust Workforce Solutions is excited to enhance the employment experience of every clinician and assist in providing exceptional care to patients across the country. At this time, we wanted to provide an update regarding our timekeeping expectations for clinicians.

Kronos Punches at HCA Healthcare Facilities:

If you are aware that a punch was missed or a correction needs to be made in Kronos, please notify the Time Editor at the facility (i.e. Nursing Office or Unit manager), so they may enter the corrections in real-time so it will not delay your pay. It is your responsibility to ensure your punches are reflected and accurate in Kronos.

Meal Breaks:

  • You are expected to take a 30-minute meal break during each shift.
  • The most common issues are short and missed meal breaks.
  • Punches out and back in must be at least 30-minutes in order for the meal break to register
  • Tip: Set a timer on your phone for 30–35 minutes to remind you to ensure a full 30-minute meal break
  •  Be sure to work out an assigned meal break time with a buddy or arrange with the charge nurse to ensure coverage & compliance.
  • Meal breaks must be taken within the first 8 hours of your 12-hour shift, but not before the first four hours of your shift.
  • In the event that you are unable to take a meal break, please notify the facility designee (Charge, Supervisor, Director) and document per facility guidelines.

Please Note: Failure to comply with the above performance expectations may result in disciplinary action leading up to termination.
